I have written this Sonnet on the Make a Sonnet Here Page.
I have been asked to read it out for Remembrance Day.
My friend also received a message from Spirit, based
on the same Theme, which is about SELLING POPPIES,
which is posted below the example of SONNET.
SELLING POPPIES
All my life, I have been selling Poppies.
I was not born to see the First World War.
Once they were real, but now they are copies.
One battle was plenty, but man wants more.
Another war came with my turn to fight.
I was young and it was the thing to do.
To support our homeland, we thought was right.
And all my friends, came to fight with me too.
So now I have a poppy to sell you.
I have many medals on my lapel.
To earn these medals, was easy to do.
I had to stay and survive living hell.
Throughout the war, my friends died, one by one.
While I have been sad, they were having fun.

Poppies of blood !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
After the trauma of fighting the great world war,
It’s poppies I sell from door to door.
Remembering my mates in the war that fell
Where in spirit we know are safe and well.
It’s us that’s left with bleeding hearts and mind,
Seeking peace and energies of a different kind.
Families left empty haunted but blessed,
knowing their sons only did there best.
So poppies for me mean blood on our hands,
For those who passed to the promised land.
